SilenceCutter
A downloadable Application
SilenceCutter
SilenceCutter is a cross-platform desktop tool for video editors, creators, and anyone who wants to remove quiet gaps from recordings without doing every cut by hand.
Drop in your clips, analyze them with FFmpeg's silence detection, review the pause timeline, choose which pauses should be removed, and export the result.
What it does
- Detects silent pauses in video clips using FFmpeg and FFprobe.
- Shows an editable timeline of speech and silence segments.
- Lets you select exactly which pauses to remove.
- Previews speech segments before export.
- Exports a rendered cut video with selected pauses removed.
- Exports pause-only clips.
- Exports EDL pause markers for DaVinci Resolve.
- Exports a CSV cut list for debugging or advanced post-processing.
Why use it
SilenceCutter is built for the editing step that gets tedious fast: removing dead air from recordings, tutorials, interviews, video essays, streams, and talking-head footage.
Instead of relying on a fully automatic cut, it gives you a readable pause timeline so you can decide what stays and what goes. That makes it useful when breaths, dramatic pauses, or quiet words still matter.
